  • Effects of Flavonoids Journal

  • Lupus is caused by Natural Killer (NK) CD4 double negative and CD8 double negative T-Lymphocytes, also called T cells. These T cells multiply using a potassium gene channel. By blocking this gene channel, Mirac stops the proliferation of cells that cause Lupus.

  • Arthritis, Rheumatoid and Osteo, are caused by the induction of InterLeukin-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression by tumor necrosis factor alpha. Mirac inhibits the activation of Nuclear Factor-kappa B 65 which causes these chain reactions through H2O2 mediated responses.

  • Fibromyalgia is a multi-factorial systemic disorder. Mirac attenuates the neuro-endrocrine loop called the HPA (Hypothalmic Pituitary Adrenal) axis. T-lymphocytes inflame the pancreas and hinder the production of hormones used in the HPA axis. These T cells multiply using a potassium gene channel. By the blocking of this gene channel, Mirac stops the proliferation of pain stemming from these cells.

Over 50 million Americans, or one in five people, suffer from autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus or fibromyalgia. Worldwide, diabetes alone afflicts approximately 150 million people. More of these diseases are being reported every year as medical knowledge grows and diagnostic tools improve.

In line with this trend is the cost of medical treatment for autoimmune diseases—treatment and research is calculated in the hundreds of billions of dollars. The American Diabetes Association, for example, estimates that the United States spent $132 billion on diabetes research and treatment in the year 2002 alone.

Much is still unknown about the complex reactions within the body that cause the immune system to attack itself, and diagnosing some of these diseases, like fibromyalgia, continues to be problematic because a clear pattern of symptoms doesn't always initially present itself. This has made it hard to treat many of these conditions, and most modern therapies have focused on alleviating the pain and life-threatening symptoms of autoimmune disorders without being able to heal the root cause.

Science Driven - Doctor Endorsed Mirac is a specially designed naturally occurring set of regulatory molecules proven effective for Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and Arthritis, RA & OA. Mirac is a safe, non-toxic bioflavonoid whose mechanism of activity targets the blocking of ion channels in certain lymphocytes, specifically CD4 double negative and CD8 double negative T Cells. Blocking these ion channels prevents the cascade of events leading to inflammatory responses seen in autoimmune and neuroinflammatory type diseases.

We use high pharmaceutical grade Quercetin, which is found naturally in apples, onions, and black tea, and Bromelain, the name of a group of powerful proteolytic enzymes found in the pineapple plant, to achieve therapeutic results.

Bromelain Health Benefits:

Bromelain is particularly useful for reducing muscle and tissue inflammation and as a digestive aid. It is a natural blood thinner and anti-inflammatory. It works by breaking down fibrin, a blood-clotting protein that can impede good circulation and prevent tissues from draining properly. Bromelain also blocks the production of compounds that can cause swelling and pain. When inflammation is reduced, blood can move more easily to a traumatized area, easing pain and speeding healing.

Treat sprains, strains, and muscle aches and pains. Bromelain reduces swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness that can result from tissue injuries or muscle aches and pains, or from surgery. In a 1995 German study, 59 people with strains and torn ligaments were given bromelain for one to three weeks; researchers found that the supplement caused a significant reduction in swelling, tenderness, and pain, both at rest and during movement. The results were comparable to those of people taking NSAIDs such as aspirin. Bromelain also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the muscles and can help excess fluid drain from the site of a muscle injury.

  • Alleviate back pain and chronic joint pain associated with arthritis. In addition to easing the aching and stiffness of back muscles, bromelain also relieves pain in chronically inflamed joints.

  • Aid digestion and reduce heartburn. Bromelain can enhance the effect of such digestive enzymes as trypsin or pepsin (especially when the pancreas is producing insufficient amounts of them). Bromelain can also ease the pain of heartburn and lessen the effects of diarrhea when these conditions are caused by a shortage of digestive enzymes.

  • Reduce the swelling and pain of gout. In some studies, bromelain relieved the joint and tissue swelling and severe pain related to an attack of gout. If taken regularly, bromelain may also prevent recurrent gout attacks.

  • Ease chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, and respiratory allergies. In individuals with chronic bronchitis, bromelain has been shown to suppress cough and ease congestion. Patients with sinusitis and allergies that affect the sinuses have also responded to bromelain therapy; it helps reduce inflammation and fluid retention in the nasal membranes.

  • Relieve carpal syndrome tunnel. Bromelain reduces tissue swelling that causes the finger numbness, shooting pains, and weakness in the hand associated with this repetitive stress injury.

  • Lessen the swelling and accelerate the healing of cuts and scrapes, and insect bites and stings. The enzymes in bromelain reduce the inflammation of skin wounds, insect bites, and stings, and also promote healing.

  • Reduce the symptoms of eczema. Bromelain taken with the flavonoid quercetin can relieve the red and often intensely itchy rashes of eczema.

Quercetin Health Benefits:

Quercetin helps fight a host of disorders, from asthma to cancer to heart disease. As an antioxidant, it combats the destructive "free radical" molecules that play a part in many diseases. Among people with high dietary intakes of quercetin, studies show lower rates of stomach, lung, pancreatic, and breast cancers. Quercetin inhibits the buildup of a type of blood sugar that could otherwise lead to cataract formation in the lens of the eye.

The latest findings indicate that quercetin may also help to prevent heart attacks. The Rotterdam Study, published in the 2002 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, examined the tea-drinking habits and dietary flavonoid intakes of nearly 5,000 adults in Holland. Apparently due to black tea's high flavonoid concentration, daily consumption of the brew reduced the risk of heart attack overall for tea drinkers.

And in women, a strong connection was found between high intake of dietary flavonoids and reduced risk of fatal heart attack. The researchers speculate that women's extra protection may be related to the flavonoids' role as phytoestrogens (plant estrogens), which can offer heart-protective benefits similar to those of soy. A previous study had also shown that flavonoids increased bone density in women, a known action of phytoestrogens.

  • Reduce cancer risk. Quercetin may help reduce the risk of developing cancer. In one study, lung cancer was 58% lower among people who ate the most apples compared to those who ate the fewest. Quercetin has also been shown to help reduce the risk of stomach, pancreatic, and breast cancer.

  • Prevent heart attack. One cause of heart disease is the overgrowth of smooth muscle cells in artery walls, a key component in the development of atherosclerosis. As it does with cancer cells, there is now evidence that quercetin functions in a similar way to stop the overgrowth of cells that harm the heart. A 2002 study in the journal Surgery reported that in laboratory tests, quercetin arrested the development of vascular smooth muscle cells by locking them in a "no-growth" state. This may be why the Rotterdam Study found that quercetin contributes to reduced heart attack risk.

  • Stave off cataracts. A lifetime of unprotected sun exposure can damage the eyes as well as the skin. It happens so gradually that many people aren't aware they're developing cataracts. Ultraviolet (UV) rays, particularly the burning UVB rays, damage proteins in the lens of the eye, causing them to clump together in a whitish cloud. Cigarette smoking and a deficiency in antioxidant vitamins are other major causes of cataracts. Research indicates that quercetin blocks an enzyme that leads to accumulation of sorbitol, a type of sugar that contributes to cataract formation.

  • Control asthma. Quercetin may be useful in relieving asthma (and possibly hay fever and sinusitis) as a result of its ability to reduce inflammation in the airways and prevent the release of histamine (which causes congestion). It appears to block allergic reactions to pollen as well.

  • Maintain health when suffering from Crohn's disease. Quercetin, a natural anti-inflammatory, may be helpful in countering the hallmark of Crohn's disease: chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn's manifests itself as abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, and weight loss. The small intestine is primarily affected, and the patient develops real problems in absorbing important nutrients. Conventional physicians use the anti-inflammatory drugs sulfasalazine and steroids to reduce the inflammation; taking quercetin is one (natural) way to supplement the actions of these drugs.

  • To prevent recurrent gout attacks. Taken with cherry fruit extract (as well as fresh or canned cherries), vitamin C, and possibly fish oils, quercetin may do the trick in forestalling acute attacks by lowering elevated uric acid levels--the cause of the painful attacks. The combination can be taken on a long-term basis.

  • Speed up healing of recurrent heartburn, or gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD). As a flavonoid, quercetin functions as a natural anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, and possibly an inhibitor of Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium associated with stomach ulcers, which can cause recurrent heartburn. If your heartburn symptoms are persistent, you may want to take a daily combination of quercetin and flavonoids to accelerate healing.

Possible Side Effects:

If you are allergic to pineapple, you may not take Mirac. Bromelain can cause an allergic reaction (red or itchy eyes, sneezing, running nose, irritated throat) in people who are sensitive to pineapple. Also, avoid taking if you have a active gastric or duodenal ulcer. Some people have occasionally reported nausea, diarrhea, or skin rash.
